Yep… August again; where did the last year go???
My mother is a fabulous needlewoman – both machine stitching and hand embroidery. I’ve tried my hand at both but they just weren’t for me, anyway, I could never create anything as beautiful as her creations. She has even made a wonderful Christening gown and bonnet (which has been worn by all the babies in our family since made in 1989) ALL by hand – yes, including seams… she’s very talented!
Here’s the card I made for my Mummy this year:
I used cream pearlescent card and paper. The overall size of the card is just under 6″ square (actually 14.85mm sq).
- Printed a design from Pink Petticoat from their “Perfect Papers” set (the rosebuds – I love these) onto the paper.
- Printed Pink Petticoat’s sewing machine digital stamp from their “Material Girl” set and the greeting (using fonts Courier and Clicker Script) onto pearlescent paper. Coloured these rosebuds with pearlescent chalks. Also printed the cotton reels onto the pearlescent card and wound pink and green embroidery thread around them.
- Made a scalloped square matte using my Pazzles Inspiration Electronic Die Cutting Machine. I stuck down the sewing machine to the scalloped square then machine stitched a border in pink.
- I then assembled the card using double sided sticky tape, foam squares and attached two buttons with superglue.
A special personalised card for a special Mummy!
