Another Get Well Card

You will have seen from my previous post that my sister-in-law suffers with bad health.  We didn’t know it, but, she has been gravely ill and in intensive care (my husband’s family aren’t the greatest communicators 😦 ).  At the same time we received this news, I also had news from my parents that my Uncle in Australia has been quite unwell, so decided to make the same card for both precious members of our extended families.

Using a digital scrapbooking kit “Happiness” from one of my most favourite designers, Dawn Inskip, I created this card:

???????????????????????????????

How the card was made:

Using MS Publisher, I dragged one of the papers onto the canvas and re-sized it by “grabbing” one of the corners so it measured 14.85 cm x 14.85 cm (see my post “An Abundance of Birthdays” for details of how to set it out on an A4 sized canvas).  I placed my “Created with love” logo in the middle of the opposite side of the canvas (this will be the back of the card).

The tag and bird on the branch are elements in the kit – the nice thing about using things from one kit is that they all co-ordinate.  I added a shadow to the bird on the branch and a butterfly in Photoshop Elements and created the word art using the font “Chalk-Hand-Lettering-shaded”.  I then placed this topper in MS Publisher, together with 2 more birds on branch and printed them all on 300gsm coated card.  I cut the elements out and cut out just the wing of one of the birds then layered the bird using self-adhesive foam squares.

???????????????????????????????

???????????????????????????????

I fastened the completed topper to the card using brown brads with my Silent Setter by provocraft (a must as I’m a night owl and don’t want to wake my family by hammering 🙂 )

???????????????????????????????

I created the insert – just a simple greeting “Get Well Soon” using the same font as above and completed it by going over the greeting with a teal coloured Sakura Gelly Roll glittery pen.

???????????????????????????????And now I’m off to the Post Office!

I think I’ve included everything you need to know, but if there’s anything you’d like to ask me about creating a card digitally, please contact me.

My nephew turned 13!

It was my nephew Ben’s 13th birthday earlier this month and I made him this card digitally:

Digital version

Digital version

I used the following products:

  • digital papers from Teen Life by Jennifer of Word Art World
  • Inverted News Alpha by Robin Gough
  • Stamped Alphas by ScrapALatte Designs
  • Guitar element from Bass’ic Black Notes kit by Digital Ink By Melissa
  • mp3 player and tablet images from internet

I added a shadow to the papers and elements in Photoshop Elements then printed it off on 300 gsm card.  Using a black Gelly Roll Stardust pen, I added dimension to the digital stamped image No 13 (I’m sorry but I can’t remember who designed this).

This is the finished card – apologies for the quality of the photograph, but you can just about see the sparkle on the no 13.

I look forward to any comments!
