Just like his older brother, my youngest nephew graduated from university this year with a first class honours degree in Physics. To celebrate, I created this wordbook card:
Each letter of the word GRAD is a page.
G has a mortar board cap and scroll
R has “The tassel was worth the hassle” die cuts
A has “You did it!” with a leaping graduates border die cuts
and
D has the greeting “Congratulations” “1st Class Honours Degree Physics” and the University logo die cuts
You may have guessed his university colours are red and black.
I then created a “boxvelope” in black card using my Brother Scan n Cut SDX1200 to not only cut the template but also to adorn this with his name in gold. I’m so lucky to have a machine which can use pens to draw as well as a blade to cut.
Wordbooks are often used in the creative world as a type of scrapbook. In this instance, it doubles up as a card so he can look back at it in years to come to help remind him what a wonderful era this was for him.
Materials Used:
- Black card – smooth and textured linen effect
- Red card – smooth and textured linen effect
- Cream card – textured linen effect
- Gold gloss self adhesive paper for the seal on the front and “The tassel was worth the hassle”
- Gold metallic cutting machine pen by American Crafts (font used for name on boxvelope was “Monbijoux”)
- Silver and gold non-shed glitter card
- Kraft card for the closures on the boxvelope
- Gold eyelets
- Red thread
- Black and red satin ribbon
- I created all the die cuts with the Brother Canvas Workspace and my Brother Scan n Cut SDX1200
I really enjoyed making this card to celebrate my nephew’s auspicious achievement. Needless to say the whole family are very proud of him!
